In this clinical case, the patient presented with complaints of dental floss tearing when passing between teeth 1.5, 1.6, and 1.7, indicating defects in the existing restoration and possible underlying pathological changes.
During the examination and CBCT scan of the jaws, apical periodontitis of tooth 1.6 was diagnosed.
For treatment planning, comprehensive diagnostics were performed, including a CBCT scan, periapical radiography, and professional dental cleaning. Treatment was carried out under STA computer-assisted anesthesia with rubber dam isolation.
After removal of the old restoration, residual filling material, and carious tissues, root canal retreatment was performed under the control of a Seiler Evolution XR6 operating microscope. Mechanical and chemical preparation of the root canal system was carried out, followed by ultrasonic-activated irrigation. The canals were then hermetically sealed using the warm gutta-percha 3D obturation technique.
Following endodontic treatment, the tooth was restored with Estelite Asteria composite material. The final stage included digital scanning, fabrication, and placement of a Multilayer Esthetics zirconia crown with individual staining.
Result:
The source of infection was eliminated, the tooth’s function was restored, and a long-term aesthetic result was achieved.
