In this clinical case, the patient presented with tooth pain following previous endodontic treatment performed at another dental clinic.
The examination revealed apical periodontitis of tooth 4.6 and a fractured instrument fragment inside one of the root canals.
For treatment planning, a CBCT scan and a periapical X-ray were performed.
Using a Leica M320 dental microscope, root canal retreatment was carried out, including bypassing the fractured instrument with the ByPass technique, followed by mechanical and chemical canal preparation.
After obturation with warm gutta-percha, the tooth was restored with Estelite Asteria composite material and a full-contour zirconia crown fabricated using CAD/CAM technology.
Result:
The inflammatory process has been eliminated, the tooth preserved, and chewing function restored.
