In this clinical case, the patient presented with pain in the upper jaw while chewing. An otolaryngologist referred the patient for treatment of tooth 1.6 due to suspected odontogenic maxillary sinusitis.
During the examination and CBCT scan of the jaws, chronic apical periodontitis of tooth 1.6 was diagnosed.
Endodontic treatment was performed under STA computer-assisted anesthesia with rubber dam isolation. Using a Seiler Evolution XR6 operating microscope, the root canals were treated, additionally disinfected with the Ozymmed ozone generator, and hermetically sealed using warm gutta-percha.
The tooth was then restored with Estelite Asteria composite material. Follow-up examinations and CBCT scans performed after 6 months and 1.5 years confirmed successful healing, after which the tooth was prepared for the prosthetic stage and restored with a zirconia crown.
Result:
Inflammation was eliminated, the tooth’s function was restored, and the condition of the maxillary sinus returned to normal.
